TeraJoule Energy, a company specializing in energy efficiency and energy management, is taking over Q-Cells Clean Energy Sourcing GmbH

ISUCON advises management team on successful buyout

Frankfurt am Main, December 08, 2010 - The TeraJoule Energy Group (www.terajoule.de), which specializes in energy efficiency and energy management in the "Green Internet of Energy", has acquired Q-Cells Clean Sourcing GmbH (QCCS) from Q-Cells SE announced. With sales of 49.3 million euros in 2009, Q-Cells Clean Sourcing is regarded as one of the leading TÜV certified green energy suppliers in Germany. Silence has been agreed on the purchase price. The financing is partly provided by the German investment fund Sirius EcoTech Fonds.

"With the new acquisition, we are closing a gap in our portfolio that encompasses the entire energy value chain, from production to trade, to load control and consumption optimization," explains Dr. med. Frank Baumgärtner, CEO of the Terajoule Energy Group. The acquisition will put Terajoule Energy in the position for the first time to deliver real green electricity to "gray prices", especially to municipalities and commercial customers. They could thus improve their CO2 balance and make their contribution to sustainability at no extra cost. Hydropower, sewage gas and mine gas are currently being used, and expansion to wind power and biogas is planned.

TeraJoule Energy sees itself as a specialist in the transition from the conventional hierarchical energy system to the future "Green Internet of Energy" (Smart Grid). TeraJoule Energy serves the entire energy value creation chain from generation to load management and retail through to consumption optimization. The business units Plant Projects, Control Energy, Green Electricity Trading and Contracting / Consulting are ready for this. The smart grid as a decentralized energy network is considered a prerequisite for the widespread use of renewable energies and electric mobility.

For Q-Cells SE, the divestment of its green power subsidiary QCCS to TeraJoule Energy is part of its focus strategy. Trading in electricity is not part of the core business of the company, which has consequently adjusted its investment portfolio without the green electricity supplier Q-Cells Clean Sourcing. Even after the sale of QCCS, Q-Cells uses 100% green electricity, thus making a contribution to sustainability and the development of regenerative energies.
